Layered Stamping with Inky Flowers & a Greeting Card

Hello from Åshild! It’s time to jazz! Today I am sharing a fun technique with you on how to layer your stamps using the masking technique. I am working with the lovely Inky Flowers stamp set.

I love to stamp, but I also love to add my own personal touches to the stamped motifs. There are many ways to jazz up a motif: You can color some part of it, add tiny dotts for shadowing or highlight parts of the motif with a white pen. So I did!

I colored the background simply by using a blending tool and 3 matching Distress ink colors from Ranger. When the blending was done, I spritzed some water to the colored part to create “water drops”.

I grabbed the stamp design Inky Flowers and used it to stamp a collage of more stamps by creating a paper mask for the main motif and stamp leaves around it. To make the stamped collage pop, I used black heat embossing powder. When the powder was heated and ready, I added some color to the flowers by using a waterbrush directly to the ink pad for color. I also made tiny dotts around the flower to make the illusion of shadow and depth. And finally some white dots to highlight some parts.

Here are pictures that show the process:

Create the background.
Stamp the main motif.
Add text.
And highlight with white.
Spritz water.
Place the mask and stamp more.
Color the flowers.
Voila!
Create a mask.
My collaged motif.
Draw dotts as shadow.

Thanks for stopping by today!
