Stamping with Gold Leaf to make gorgeous Backgrounds

Hi there – Åshild here 🙂 Today I’m showing you a way to use gold leaf on stamped images to give them a real golden touch. I love the stamps from the Sketchy Leaves design and wanted to use them on my set of cards.

I’ve used a product called Heat’n Stick that kind of works as heat embossing powder, but it gets sticky as a glue when you heat it up. So, you stamp your leaves with embossing ink, cover the motif with the glue powder, heat it up and then lay the sheet of gold leaf over the stamped motifs and rub gently. And you’re left with beautiful golder leaves on your cards.

Here are some photos showing how I’ve made the cards:

Prepare some clear packaging tape as a collage element. Just put it on top of an old book page and remove it!

Stamp leaf images onto your background with embossing ink and sticky embossing powder.

Heat set the powder and put some gold leaf down. Press it on with your fingers.

Remove the gold leaf carefully!

To prepare a dimentional flower as a focal point stack up some collage paper cut to a circular shape. Use a button as the center and sew the flowers together. Build the cards by adhereing some of the textured packaging tape to your background and mount it to a card base. Adhere your flower and a greeting.

I made four different cards with this technique!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you like my cards!
