Two cards in two styles – with Mixed Media Marks 1 and Distress Ink

I just love markmaking – and the Mixed Media Marks 1 is fabulous to use to make fun backgrounds. I actually used them to create 2 different ones with almost the same stuff. One of them turned out quite simple, the other one more in a mixed media style. The Mixed Media Marks 1 is one of the stamp sets of the month and 10% off in April! Don’t miss this!

The “simple” one:

I just stamped randomly on white cardstock using the Distress Ink pads and the Onyx Black from VersaFine. To highlight the hearts, I used my black Derwent pencil together with my waterbrush and added some shadows. I added some splashes with a yellow Posca Marker.

The Mixed media card:

I started like I did with the simple background: stamping randomly with Distress Inks. The I sprayed the background with some water to make it look like watercolors. When it was all dried up, I stamped some of the designs in black. I used India Ink to add black splatters, and my sewing machine to sew some lines. Then I stamped the heart on a piece of watercolor paper and used my waterbrush to color it with Distress Ink from the inkpad. I stapled the heart to the background and embellished the card. As an alternative to the stickers I used for the sentiment you can make your own with the fabulous Mix A Sentiment stamp set or with Mixed Sentiments 1.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you like the cards!
