Mixed Media Greeting Card using Big Ovals Stencil for Gel Printed Background

Hey! It’s Laura on the blog today and I have a bright, summer inspired card to share with you! I’ve combined a few techniques – some obvious and some less so, so don’t forget to read more below!

I started off with my gel plate and the Big Ovals stencil because I wanted that to be my background and using a gel plate is a great way to get your creativity flowing.

I added some acrylic paint through the stencil and I added some stamping using Pencil Marks 7 – this is a great way to add texture through large stencil openings, though it isn’t overly visible on the finished card. To lift the print I removed the stencil and added another layer of acrylic paint in a complementary colour.

For my focal images I added an image from Mix it Up 4 on white card and I added a layer of vellum which I stapled on top. This muted the text down a little and added extra texture and interest. I folded it back and adhered a flower from the Doodle Flowers 2 stamp set which I had water coloured and fussy cut.

For my sentiement, I white heat embossed on black card the ‘Make your Mark’ sentiment which comes from the Mixed Media Marks 1 stamp set.

I love mixing all the different Rubber Dance Stamp Sets together to create unique greeting cards. I really hope that this has given you some inspiration to get creative this weekend!

Happy crafting!
