Dry Embossing with Stencils

Hi everyone! It’s Hege here 🙂 Today I will show you how I made textured paper using stencils and a die cutting machine to dry emboss paper. As our stencils are quite thick this works perfectly!
I know it’s possible to get a sheet of soft rubber to dry emboss in some die cutting machines, but I don’t have that. Instead I use sheets of kitchen paper, it works just fine! I had to test a few times with different quantity of kitchen paper sheets to get the right imprint. If you want to try this you have to test to find the right amount of kitchen paper for your machine and your paper.

In my “sandwich” I used the platform and two cutting pads, four sheets of kitchen paper, a stencil and a sheet of water colour paper.

The result will depend on both the pattern on the stencil, and how many times you roll the “sandwich” through the machine.

I love this!

Isn’t this cool?

Love dots!

I rolled this two times through the machine, so the pattern is more embossed than the others
When the paper was embossed I coloured it using distress ink and a blending tool in my favourite colours!

Another option would be to put down the stencil again and then color the embossing with samping inks and a blending tool! You could also use some embossed cardstock to make patterns on your gelli plate! In this way you get the beautiful stencil texture without making a mess on you stencil itself!
Now I have textured paper ready to use on my future projects!
Wishing you a creative day! Hege x
