Vintage Ephemera Tags – Mixed Media Layering

Hi there, Susanne here with some lovely vintage ephemera tags using a layered background with Distress Inks, watercolors and stamps from our Weed Love 2025, Mix It Up 5 and Mix It Up 6 stamp sets. There is a process video when you scroll down.
I started with a sheet of 200gsm Fabriano Accademia paper (any mixed media paper will do the job!) I stamped an image from Weed Love 2025 with Distress Oxides in some brown shades (frayed burlap & vintage photo). For my next layer I used thin watercolour mixtures. I stayed within the colour palette. I used granulating watercolours, as they give me a lovely texture. The watercolour will activate the Distress Oxides and give some really nice bleeding and glow. Once the paper was dry I added a lot of watercolour splatters to it. In different shades and sizes. I let that dry again and used some metallic gold watercolor to do the same.
After this was dry I cut my tags with a frame-die and my Sizzix Big Shot. I added some additional stamping with images from Mix It Up 5 and Mix It Up 6 in different colours – brown & black. Finally I inked the edges of the tags with a blending brush and Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.

Here is a quick process video:
Thanks for stopping by today! xx Susanne
