Vintage Mixed Media Tag with Distress Ink Background

Hi there, Susanne here with a lovely vintage mixed media tag using our brand new Mark 3 stencil and stamps from the Mix It Up 5 stamp set on a Distress Ink/ Oxide background. Scroll down for a process video on how I made this background.

I picked Canson XL watercolor paper and cut the tag with a die and my Sizzix Big Shot. For the background I used our new Mark 3 stencil together with Distress Oxide Cracked Pistachio and Distress Ink Vintage Photo. I applied the inks to the stencil, spritzed it with a good amount of water and placed the stencil onto my tag. I pressed it down with a kitchen-roll to absorb the over amount of ink. This gave me a wonderful textured background.

After the background was dry I added some stamping with images from Mix It Up 5 using StazOn inks. I then added some collage paper to the top right and stamped over it with the sewing border. My focal point is the vinage image with the butterfly stamped to a neutral gelli print. I added another butterfly with the wings from Mix It Up 6. I stamped one directly to the tag and the other to a piece of gel print. I cut that out and placed it next to the sewing border to build a butterfly.

To finish up the tag I put some ribbon through the top whole.
