Mixed Media Card Tutorial with AHOY

Hi! It’s Laura on the blog today and I’m back with a fun tutorial creating a sea themed card using the AHOY stamp set together with the Rainbows 2 and Organic 2 stencils!
I like to add layers and texture to my cards to add interest and to create something unique. I have put some step by step photos below of how my project came together. First, I added some ink to a card panel. I used blues and teals to go with my sea them. Next I added some detail using stencils. I like to use the same inks that I’ve blended with so that we aren’t adding any new colours at this stage, just some texture. I used the Rainbows 2 stencil for some sky detail and the Organic 2 stencil for the waves of the sea.

First get some colour down!

Next I added some water splatters to cause the inks to react. Once it was dry I then used the Postcard Stamp from Mix it Up 6, again using the same ink colour, to add some subtle stamping.
I stamped my focal element from the AHOY stamp set and coloured with with coloured pencils and fussy cut the image out. I added some birds in black ink to the skyline and I distressed around the panel using my scissors. My sentiment white heat embossed on black cardstock which I then also distressed with my scissors. I added some black cotton thread and popped the boat on some foam tape for some dimension. I grounded it on a layer of navy blue cardstock and then I mounted it to my top folding card base.
Here’s some close up photos of the finished card:

I really hope that this has given you some summer inspiration 🙂
Thank you for joining me on the blog today!
Happy crafting!
