Autumnal Art Journal Page with Textured Mushromms

Hi there, Susanne here with a new video tutorial! Today I am sharing an art journal page in one of my handmade junk art journals using our new Textured Mushrooms 2 stamps. I am creating a forest scene with watercolors and collage.

I love this little handmade journal, as it is filled with left over paper pages, that have already some kind of color on them. That makes it really easy to start, as you don’t have a blank page in front of you. I will link up the video tutorial on how to make this journal at the end of this post.
I started today’s spread by adhering some old book paper pieces and a bit of my handmade washi tape. You will find this video also linked up at the end! I am protecting the collage with a layer of clear gesso. Watercolors are working great on clear gesso, as it has some kind of texture!
Once the gesso was dry I added some autumnal shades of watercolors. I also added some black and white splatters. To create a bit of interest on the background I stamped the fern leaf from our Doodle Flowers 2 stamp set in olive green.

I stamped the mushrooms with black embossing ink and colored them also with the watercolors. I cut them out and arranged them on my spread. Finally I painted a bottom so the mushrooms had something to sit on.

As my focal image I picked this one, as it matches the colors of the page perfectly. I will link up a tutorial video for these collage fodder embellishments at the end of this post.
