Abstract Art with Collage and Inky Friends

Hi there, Susanne here with an abstract mixed media spread using watercolors combined with collage, some background stamping and the bumble bee from our Inky Friends stamp set. I did this in a big spiral bound sketchbook containing usual drawing paper. Scroll down for a quick process video.

I lay down some watercolors loosely in blue shades, a lighter and a darker one. I made some splatters with the darker blue at the bottom of the page. Once this was dry I used our lovely Music background to add some textured. I then cut out some shapes from collage papers. I used some “left over paint papers”. I adhered the elements to the page. I added some mark making and scribbles with a black watercolor pencil. The bumble bee was directly stamped to the background. I stamped it a second time to a collage piece and then adhered part of it on top.
