Mixed Media Art Journal Page with Stencil Background

Hi there, Susanne here with a double spread in my art journal using our Small Triangles and Big Triangles stencils together with acrylics for the background. My focal point is a leaf from our Pencil Marks 7 stamp set.

I started this spread with a loose layer of acrylic paint in turquoise and blue shades. After this was dry I put some big areas in Paynes Grey down. I let this sit for just a minute until the top surface was a little damp. With a babywipe I removed the Paynes Grey through our Small Triangles stencil. It’s quite a messy process, but it gives a gorgeous background. I added some splatters in white and black.

After the background was dry I applied white paint through the Big Triangles stencil with a make-up sponge in some of the areas. I added stamping with Mixed Media Marks 1 to bring texture to the background. My focal image is the leaf from Pencil Marks 7. I stamped it to a gelli print, cut it out and adhered it together with some collage pieces to the right bottom corner. Finally I did some mark making with Neocolor crayons and pencils.

I finished up the page with a sentiment from Mixed Sentiments 1 which I also stamped to a gel print and cut out the words.

I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
