Abstract Watercolors in my Art Journal & Sketchy Leaves

Hi there, Susanne here with an easy and playful art journal spread using watercolors, mark making and collage. The focal point is a leaf stamp from our Sketchy Leaves stamp set.

I am working with watercolors in a usual sketchbook (no watercolor paper). I start by laying down the watercolors in loose shapes. To create texture I also use some granulating watercolors which show up so nicely on this paper. For more texture I use a big soft brush and also a fern brush. I add even more interest with some colour splatters in black and orange.

Once everything was dry I added some raw sienna marks with the watercolors and a few bits of collage paper. I stamped over it with the circle pattern from Round In Circles. My focal image is stamped on a watercolor background.
