Layered Art Journal Page with Collage and Inks

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a mixed media art journaling tutorial using Collage Fodder, Inks and a focal image made with our Sketchy Leaves 7 stencil and words from Collage Leaves 3.

I’m working in my art journal from Action and started by adhering some handmade collage papers with my glue stick. I applied a layer of clear gesso over the top to seal it, so I can work with some inks. To bring in even more texture and contrast I added some stenciling with black acrylic paint and our Marks 2 stencil. Once the page was dry, I played with inks from Ferris Wheel Press, but you can use any other ink you have. I was carefully applying some of the inks, moved them around with a brush and added a bit of water until I was happy with the the result.
For my focal image I used a collage fodder element made with our Sketchy Leaves 7 stencil. My sentiment is from our Collage Leaves 3 stamp set.
