Easy Art Journal Page with Distress Ink Background

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a mixed media art journal page with a Distress Ink background and flower stamps from our Mix It Up 7 set. I also used our Marks 3 stencil to bring more texture on the background. Scroll down for a video tutorial.
I started the page by layering Distress Inks in Peacock Feathers and Vintage Photo with a mini Gelli Plate onto the background. I am working in my small watercolor journal. I added texture by spinkling some water droplets onto the page.
Once that was dry I used our Marks 3 stencil together with Distress Oxide in Bundled Sage. I applied the ink to the stencil, spritzed it with water and then “stamped” it to the background.
Whilst the page was drying I started preparing my focal images. I stamped the coneflowers from the Mix It Up 7 stamp set to some design paper that had a light map texture. I stamped the same images also directly to my art journal spread. I also added some more stamping to bring in even more texture using images from Mix It Up 7 and Vintage Stuff.
I then cut out the flowers and adhered them into the ones I’ve stamped to the page. Stamping them twice helps the images to look more prefect. You can do the fuzzy cutting directly on the black outline and cut away small details, as these are already stamped to the background.
