Art Journaling with Distress Inks & Textured Birds

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a mixed media art journal page with a Distress Ink background using our Ornaments 1 stencil together with stamps from Mix It Up 7 and a focal image made with a leaf from our Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil and one of the cute Textured Birds 2.

I started the page by stamping images from our Mix It Up 7 and Mix It Up 1 sets in black. On the background I played with Forest Moos, Peeled Paint, Rusty Hinge Distress Inks and Bundled Sage in the Distress Oxide Version. I applied the inks with a mini gelli plate and added the Bundled Sage with our Ornaments 1 stencil. I just used the stencil as a stamp by inking it up with the ink pad, spritzing it with some water and then pressing it onto the page. To bring in more interest and a little bit of glamour I also applied some pink metallic watercolor.

My focal point is created with some left over collage papers, a leaf made with our Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil and one of our cute Textured Birds 2. I’m going to link up a video on how I made the leaf underneath.
