Mixed Media Art Journal Page Tutorial with Distress Oxides & Carved Collection 3

Hey, Isa here, diving into the joy of homemade art journaling with Distress Oxides! Today, let’s create a page as light as a feather using the Carved Collection 3, Mix It Up 2, and Textured Flowers stamp sets.

First up, on my paper palette, I’m rubbing three analogous colors of Distress Oxides. Using an acetate sheet, I smoosh the hues onto my page, creating a grungy look.

A little paintbrush magic at the edges, reactivating the ink, adds that extra touch of flair, as well as distressing the edges with a darker color, creating a vintage vibe.

Time for the Mix It Up and Textured Flowers stamp sets to shine! With a triangle composition, I stamp away with contrasting Distress Inks, adding a rhythm to the page that sings with harmony.

Enter the circle shapes, courtesy of a tape roll that’s seen better days. More drama, please with the circles from Mix It Up!

And then, the feather stamp from Carved Collection #3 takes center stage. A quick twist with poster markers, but wait… not quite there. Round two with the trusty Neocolor II crayons! Satisfaction achieved.

But we’re not stopping there!  On another sheet, two more fussy-cut feathers join the party on the main stage, in contrasting crayon colors.

Now, I add a sentiment from the Something Wonderful set, enhancing the dots on the feathers with a white pen.

And there you have it!

An art journal page that’s light as a feather and twice as delightful.

I hope you enjoyed following along with me, and don’t forget to share your creations with your favorite stamps on our Facebook page Rubber Dance Stamping Lounge or on Instagram #rubberdancestamps and #rubberdancestencils!

Be Bold and Shine!
