Minimalistic Mixed Media Journal Page with Pick A Number

Hi, Isa Dor here!

This journal page is very special, as I’m not using any of the vibrant colors I’m used to, only black, white, and gold. This is a great way to highlight the beautiful lines and designs of your stamps!

This page is part of a double spread, but today we’re going to be creating the left page. The first step is to put something on it! A toilet paper roll with black paint, and here’s my first mark!

I have music sheets printed on old yellowed tracing paper and I tore one of them into 3 pieces of different sizes to glue them down on my page. I then added 3 tiny paper scraps from my stash, all in the same neutral color range as the background: a Corean book page, a dotted eco-dyed paper, and a gel medium raised surface on kraft paper.

Next, come my beloved number stamps from the Pick a Number set. Again, working with 3 stamps.

Then, I stamped my focal point: a leaf pattern on black and white paper that I had kept from a gel plate printing session. The kind of paper you offload your brayer on to.

The fussy cut image went onto my page after I decorated all four edges with the stitch stamp from the Mixed Media Borders set.

Last step: I added a black paper scrap (also from a gel printed paper) to make a bold statement and keep the eye of the viewer near my focal point.

And there you have it! A minimalistic mixed media journal page!

I hope you enjoyed following along with me, and don’t forget to share your creations with your own favorite stamps on our Facebook page RubberDance Stamping Lounge or on Instagram #rubberdancestamps! 🎨🌸
