Mixed Media Art Journal Page with Stencil Background and Sketchy Birds

Hi everyone, it’s Peley Renata with you today sharing an art journal page in my with the lovely Sketchy Birds. Before I start, I just want to say how excited I am to create my first project as a member of the Rubber Dance design team. As usual, at the beginnings of any new friendships, I wanted to leave a good impression so I was really thinking what kind of project I should create. And since we have a beautiful spring, I thought I can’t go wrong with some splash of bold colors and some cute birds as my focal points.

My first step for this project was to prepare my focal images and for that, I decided to go with the Sketchy Birds stamp set. I colored them using watercolors and then to added some details with Prismacolor pencils as well.

Now I generally like when my background and images have at least a touch of the same color, so I decided to create my background using mostly orange and yellow acrylic paints. For this, I chose PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics in Autumn Fire, Tango, Sunshine and Buff colors. But to make things more interesting, I also did some stenciling using the Organic 1 stencil from Rubber Dance.

Of course, as you can see, I spiced it up a bit with the PaperArtsy “Just Walnut” infusion and some splatters. Next, I wanted to give my birds something to stand on and for that, I thought the sewing pattern from the Mixed Media Marks 1 stamp set looks perfect. To give the project more dimension, I decided to heat emboss it and it looked something like this:

As you can see, I really enjoyed using the Mixed Media Marks 1 stamp set as I used many more little stamps for it to add some more background interest.

The last step was to adhere my focal images and add a sentiment. And for mine, I used the words from the Mix a Sentiment stamp set.

And that’s it for my project today.

If you are interested, I also have a full step by step process video on my YouTube channel.

Thank you all for being with me today and I will see you really soon with another project using some beautiful goodies from the Rubber Dance collection.

Have a great day and stay crafty!
