Mixed Media ATCs with Inky Friends

Hi there, Susanne here! I’m sharing two artist trading cards today using butterflies from our Inky Friends stamp set together with our Marks 3 stencil on a watercolor background.

For the card bases I used watercolors and applied them wet in wet on 300gsm watercolor paper. Once the background was dry I cut it into cards, measuring 2.5 x 3.5 inches. To create an interesting base for the butteflies I used our Marks 3 stencil together with watercolor. Instead of applying the paint through the stencil I painted the stencil with the watercolor and then used it like a stamp. For even more texture I used images from our Mix It Up 4 and Mix It Up 6 stamp sets.
The butterflies are stamped to the perfect coloring paper with Memento ink in black. I colored them with alcolhol markers. As a title for each ATC I picked words from our Mix A Sentiment stamp set.
