Index Cards on Cardboard with Brushos and Sketchy Leaves

Hi there, Susanne here with a new video tutorial! Today I am sharing some fun altered mixed media index cards mounted on cardboard using Brusho pigment powders together with our Sketchy Leaves 4 stencil and crackle paste. Scroll down for a full video tutorial!

I started these index cards by adhering them to a piece of cardboard using my Tombow glue stick. I covered them with a layer of clear gesso to prep them for the Brusho pigments I planned to add.

After the gesso was dry I did a little bit of background stamping with the script stamp from Mix It Up 6 in StazOn Rusty Brown. I then used the lovely wildflower images from our Sketchy Leaves 4 stencil together with crackle paste. I let this dry over night!

Coming back the next day, I wet the cards and sprinkled in some of the Brusho powders. I used Orange, Purple, Emerald Green and Light Brown. I let the Brushos do it’s own thing. This usually gives me the best results! I did not dry these cards with my heat tool, I was afraid that they would maybe bend. So I let these dry on their own for some hours and highlighted the focal image with some white heavy gesso and then sprinkled some white and gold paint splatters on top. I stamped our Mix A Sentiment stamps and cut out some words that I adhered to the cards to finish them.
