Mixed Media Journal Cards with Collage Fodder and Butterflies

Hi there, Susanne here with a mixed media tutorial. I am sharing two journal cards with a Distress Oxide spray background using our Marks 3 stencil, stamps from Mix It Up 5, Mix It Up 6 and Butterflies and Moths.

The focal images are made in another video. I used some gelli scraps together with images from our Butterflies and Moths stamp set. The video is linked at the end of the post.

For the background of my journal card I started with some bits of collage and added a layer of clear gesso. I used Neocolors to add some colour and a few stamps from Mix It Up 5, Mix It Up 6 and Vintage Stuff to bring in more depth. To give the cards kind of a vintage feel I added Distress Oxide sprays with a brush. I use our Marks 3 stencil to bring in some texture and contrast with black paint. I also inked the edges of the card in black, so the colours pop up more.
Finally I added white acrylic ink splatters and adhered my collage fodder elements.
