DIY Journal – Mini Book from Old Playing Cards

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a shabby chic handmade mini book made from some old playing cards. I am working with my handmade Washi Tape and some stamps from our Mix It Up 7, Doodle Flowers 2 and Butterflies and Moths sets.

I plan to use this journal as a scrapbooking mini album to put in a few photos of the kids from this spring.

The book has an accordion binding which I made with the handmade Washi tape, I shared a while ago. I’ll link the video at the end of the post.
Once every page was adhered together I covered them with white gesso. I adhered some handmade collage paper and a few bits of stamped old tea bags with mat medium. After this was dry I used watercolors and a Derwent XL Charcoal block to bring in color. To make some hightlights I used the Viarco Art Graf Tailor Shape in white.

I also prepped two separate playing cards with gesso, collage and paints to use them for the cover and the backside of the book. I am explaining every step in the video below.

I hope you like the collage fodder! Thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
