Mixed Media magnets made from tiles

Hello, it’s Sara Ferret again. Today I’m going to make mixed media magnets made from real tiles. I chose the smallest white tiles I could find and decorated them with the Marks 3 stencils and stamps from Collage Leaves 2. They are still thick and heavy, so we will need to find a strong magnet that can hold them.

First of all, I painted the background of the tile. I painted one with pink tones and the other with green tones. I wanted to use the stencil with paste in this second step, but I discarded it since otherwise I won’t be able to stamp later.

This is why I’m going to stamp now, the branch with Versafine black ink, to give interest to the plain background. I used the Collage Leaves 2 stamp set.

Now I can use the light modeling paste with the stencil Marks 3, since now the texture in the project doesn’t bother me.

I use Sakura solid markers, in fluorescent pink and fluorescent yellow, to make three round lines on the right side. With the black posca mop’r marker I make one black drop mark in each tile.

I stamp the phrase “start somewhere” from the same stamp set Collage Leaves 2, on a white textured paper. I cut out the phrase and mount it on top of a piece of sari ribbon, and glue it down with hot glue just like the back magnet. Finally I use some posca markers to make some splatters.

I hope you like the idea, if you are inspired by this project I would like to see it, tag us on social media @sara_ferret @rubberdance
