Cardboard ATCs with Collage & Stamps

Hi there, Susanne here with a fun tutorial on how to create a trio of artist trading cards with a cardboard base, handmade washi tape, collage & stamps from Textured Birds 2, Collage Leaves 2 and Inky Mushrooms.

Today’s project is perfect for some upcycling of old packaging! For the ATCs I am going to make today I’ve used cardboard as my base. I love this surface, as it is stable, but at the same time super light weight.

I cut three 2.5″ x 3.5″ pieces of cardboard and covered them with pieces of my handmade Washi tape! I’ll link the video on how I made them at the end of this post. To make that permanent I coverd evey card with a thin layer of clear gesso. That prefents the tape from coming of and I am also able to work over the top with other mediums, including wet materials.
To give my ATCs kind of a frame I inked the edges in black with my stamp pad. I had all the focal points I’m using already prepared, so there was not so much to do to finish the cards. As the Washi tape also already has a lot of texture I don’t need to add more stamping. I only used some Neocolors and my white Art Graf crayon to bring in a bit of color and to make white splatters. As these mediums are a bit opaque, they calm down the busy look of the Washi background.

Enjoy watching my tutorial!

Here are some close-ups! The mushrooms are stamped to gelli prints and then paper pieced together!

I stamps this leaf to a watercolor background.

The bird is colored in with watercolors.

I added a sentiment to each card with our Mix A Sentiment stamp set.
Here you can see how I make my own Washi tapes:

I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!
