Mixed Media Index Cards with Stenciled Focal Images

Hi there, Susanne here! I’m sharing some mixed media index cards today using stenciled leaves as my focal point. I used our new Sketchy Leaves 1 stencil together with Brushos to create the main images for my cards.

For both leaves I sprayed water through the stencil onto some watercolor paper, removed the stencil immediately and then added Brusho powders. The Brushos react with the water and build the leaves in different shades of the pigments you’ve used.

On the first card I used the mask of the leaf and added some white gesso after the Brushos were dry to add extra texture and interest to the leaf. The background of this card is a gelli print. I added some additonal stamping with mixed media stamps to it.

I stamped one of our Mix A Sentiment stamps in black to the leaf of the second card, to make it look more interesting. The background of this card is also made with Brushos. I used them on a stenciled piece of paper. I used our Organic 1 stencil together with Crackle Paste. For some more texture I also added a bit of mixed media stamping.
