Monochrome Mixed Media Tag with Butterflies & Moths

Lindsey (doodlings_cards) here with a tutorial for a mixed media tag using the Mix it Up 1 stamp set and a couple of Rubber Dance stencils.

First I blended Distress Oxide ink through the Marks 2 stencil onto my tag background. Then I really utilised the Mix it Up 1 stamp set! 😁
Lots of stamping in monochrome Distress ink and VersaFine inks …
and also heat embossing with both black and clear powders to get added texture and interest.

I used the Mini Ink Dots stencil to add further interest – swiping Distress ink over it, then giving it a light spritz of water and pressing it on the card to leave a lightly “stamped” image.

I often stamp onto tissue paper to create collage elements- it turns almost transparent when glued onto a mixed media background.

For my focal image, I chose a large butterfly from the Butterflies & Moths stamp set, stamped in Versafine to capture all the fine details of the stamp and heat embossed in black.

Tab background finished and ready for a spot embellishment! Stitching, acrylic gold ink splatters & some bling with iridescent pearls and black crystals 😁
