Mixed Media Tag with Textured Birds 2, Pencil Marks 7 & 8

Lindsey (doodlings_cards) here with a tutorial for a mixed media tag using the “smooshing” ink technique, stencilling, background stamping with the Pencil Marks 8 set and focal images using the Pencil Marks 7 and Textured Birds 2 stamp sets.
I used the “smooshing” technique with shimmery mica powder to colour the tag background. It’s really simple to do, and very effective. Pat an ink pad randomly on an acrylic block, then spritz with water and “stamp” on the cardstock. I often sprinkle on mica powder whilst the background is still wet for added interest. I do like a spot of bling 😁

To add depth and interest, I blended Distress Oxide ink through 2 stencils – Organic 3 and Marks 3

Then I turned to my Rubber Dance stamps – the newly released Pencil Marks 8 set – to add some more interest to the tag (as well as an old bottle lid!).

Happy with my tag background, the next step is to source some focal images to adorn it.
I brayered several shades of green acrylic paint onto some thin cardstock, then stamped leaves from the Pencil Marks 7 set. You need to use pigment ink for this (water based inks won’t adhere to the acrylic paint).

All my elements gathered together for assembly … including some metallic cord and glitzy embellishments, and my trademark stitching around the edge of the tag 😊

Here’s a couple of close-ups …

Thanks so much for joining me today! Look forward to seeing you again soon 😊
Happy crafting! Lindsey x
