To the Moon and Back – Mixed Media Card with Stencil Background using Distress Inks

Hello, Samantha here today and because it was Valentine’s Day a few days ago I’m sharing a tutorial showing how I made my version of a Valentine card, I just need someone to send it to! I used four brilliant stamp sets; Celestial, You Rock!, Whimsical Summer and Mix It Up 3 and also the Organic 2 stencil, which I used together with Distress Inks to create my background.

I began with a piece of white card, slightly smaller than my card blank which is 5 inches x 5 inches. Using the Organic 2 stencil and brushes I applied distress ink to the card.

After removing the stencil I went over the card with the same colours to fill in the white space and then I sprinkled with water to help blend the colours a little and add some texture.

Using the hearts stamp from the Mix It Up 3 stamp set I white heat embossed the hearts to brighten up the card and add some contrast, I also splattered the background with white and silver paint.

I then painted my road to the moon.

I stamped the moon from the Celestial stamp set and car from the Whimsical Summer stamp set and the text from the You Rock! stamp set on to white card.

I then coloured them using Prismacolour pencils and a white Posca pen for highlights.

To finish I adhered everything in place, added the text and some black ink splats.

Thanks for stopping by, Sam x
