Greeting Card with Stencil Background and Distress Inks

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a greeting card using stamps from our Butterflies and Moths set on a Distress Ink stencil background with our Marks 3 stencil.

I started this card by smooshing my background paper (Canson Mix Media) into the Distress Inks on my craft mat. I used kind of a masculin grungy colour palette with turquoisy and brown. Unfortunately I can’t remember which ones exactly. I also created some slight texture with our Ink Dots stencil. To add contrast and interest I inked up our Marks 3 stencil with Distress Ink in black soot, gave this a good spritz of water and pressed the background into the wet ink. I did the same technique already in the past and shared a tutorial in this Post.

Once everything was dry I added even more texture with stamp from Mix It Up 4 and Mix It Up 5. I build kind of a cluster with stamps in the center to give the butterfly something to sit on. To give it a grungy effect I distressed the edges with a distress tool. I then adhered my background to a blank greeting card.

For my focal images I stamped one of the butterflies with Versafine Clair in black, embossed it with clear powder and colored it in with metallic watercolors. To finish the card I cut the butterfly out and adhered it together with some black thread to my card. For the sentiment I used a stamp from Greetings.

To finish the card I applied a few Nuvo Drops here and there. I hope you like the card! Thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
