Mixed Media Cardmaking with Inky Flowers & Stamped Tissue

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a greeting card video tutorial on how to create unique mixed media card backgrounds. I am working with stamped tissue paper using our Inky Flowers stamp set and one of the cute Textured Birds 2.

I picked some tissue paper and stamped a pattern with all the images from Inky Flowers with permanent black ink. I then used a piece of it and glued it to a piece of watercolour paper using transparent gesso. I cut the watercolour paper previously with a deckled edge frame die.
Once that was dry I used watercolours to colour in the background. I worked in three layers and let each layer dry in between. I mainly used granulating paints and did some background stamping in olive green for some extra texture using stamps from Mix It Up 5 and Mix It Up 6. I also stamped the word “fly” a few times – it’s from our Small Grungy Butterflies.
For a few highlights I worked with the Viarco Art Graf Tailor shape crayon in white.
For a focal image I stamped one of our Textured Birds 2 and coloured it in with the same paints.
Once the background was dry I adhered it to a card base and put the bird on top with some foam tape. I also added a birthday sentiment from our Happy Birthday stamp set. I embossed it in white to black card stock.

Here is a video tutorial for you:

I hope you like the card! Thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
