Mixed Media Greeting Card with Stencil Background

Hi! It’s Hege here with a new post. I’m sharing a lovely Distress Ink card with a blended stencil background using Rainbows 2 and one for the beautiful butterflies from Butterflies and Moths.

Spread modeling paste on cardstock through the stencil using a palette knife, and let it dry.

Colour the cardstock with distress ink and blending tool.

Then colour through the stencil to “expand” the pattern a bit.

Here is the patterned background almost finished.

To make the background even more interesting, use a stamp and distress ink in matching colours of the background.

Stamp the focus point (the butterfly in my case) on watercolor paper, and colour it with distress ink in the same colours as the background.

Cut out the stamped image.
To get the antennas of the butterfly I first stamped directly on the background, and then glued the cut out butterfly on top.

Then mount the cardstock on black cardstock to make a contrast, and then on to the white card base.

I hope you liked my tutorial! Wishing you a creative day! Hege x
