Greeting Card with Stencil Background and Inky Flowers

Hi from Åshild! I’m sharing a lovely greeting card today using the Wheels and Leaves 2 stencil together with Distress Inks for the background together with a leaf stamp from Inky Flowers.
In my last post I created some cute circle shaped tags and I made a promise to use one of them for my next blog project. Well, here it is! I used one of the mixed media tags as a focal point on a card. And I created a matching background for the card using the same colors and some of the same stencils. Usually I create a background first, and then create or find matching embellishments, but I liked to turn the process backwards! It’s a good thing to challenge yourself with a twist now and then.
Here are some pictures – step by step – that show how I made the card:

I’m creating a background with Distress Inks.

To add some interest I am coloring the leaf with a Derwent Inktense pencil.

I am finishing the card with on of my tags and a sentiment from Mixed Sentiments 1.

I’m stamping the leaf branch from Inky Flowers in black.

I make some stitching marks with a black fine liner. You can also use one of the stitiching stamps from Grungy Borders.

So today it’s my time to challenge you:
If you usually start with the background – start with the focal next time! And if you usually start with the focal element – start with a background next time! It might be fun 🙂
