Vintage Mixed Media Backgrounds with Weed Love

Hi there, Susanne here with a fun tutorial on how to create layered mixed media backgrounds with a Vintage flair using our new Weed Love 2025 stamp set together with gel prints & collage fodder.

I love making my own papers for cardmaking, scrapbooking or other papercrafts! Today’s backgrounds start with a quick Gelli printing session using soft pastels together with acrylics on the Gelli plate. It’s important to use an original plate from Gelliarts, to be sure it will work. There are cheaper plates out there that don’t take pastels!
Once the prints are dry I work with collage over the top. I made my own collage paper using some Chinese calligraphy paper and stamped it with images from our Weed Love 2025 stamp set.

I cut the images I wanted to use our and adhered them with Ultra Met Medium to the backgrounds. To blend them in I used some white watercolor.

I am stamping images from Weed Love 2025 directly to the backgrounds to build up layers and depth. I am using different colours that were matching each print!

Enjoy watching my tutorial!

Here are some close-ups:

On this last one I haven’t worked with collage. I just did the stamping with one of the Weed Love 2025 images and also used the script stamp from Mix It Up 6.

I hope I could inspire you a little bit! I’m going to share projects with these backgrounds throughout the next weeks here on the blog! Thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
