Mixed Media with Sketchy Flowers – Masterboard Tutorial

Hello, Samantha here today, and I might be addicted to creating masterboards! I’ve been papercrafting for years now but can’t remember ever making a masterboard before, this one was A4 sized and I completed three projects and had some little bits left over which will come in handy for collage fodder. I was amazed that a single A4 masterboard could make a tag, a birthday card and a page for my art journal! For this masterboard I am working with acrylic paints, the Small Ink Dots stencil and the Mix It Up 4 and Mandalas stamp sets.

As you can see I was feeling reckless and quite simply randomly painted an A4 piece of paper, I decided to stay with three colours that I think compliment each other.

Using the very versatile Small Ink Dots stencil and the same three colours I added another layer as you can see above.

The next step was to start adding background details, I used a dark grey ink and again was quite random, some images are even upside down. The stamp set I used is Mix It Up 4 and was such fun!

Another layer, this time using the Mandalas stamp set and white embossing powder.

I stamped the flowers from the Sketchy Flowers 1 stamp set on to white card and coloured using watercolours. Some of the texts I stamped on to black card and white heat embossed.

After creating my journal page, birthday card and coordinating tag by adhering the pieces of masterboard in place I then adhered the flowers and texts in place. To finish I doodles some borders and added some black ink splats.

Thanks for stopping by. Sam x
