Mixed Media Art Journal Page with Sketchy Leaves

Hi, Isa Dor here!

Today I’m sharing with you another great way to make a mixed media art journal page, using material you made with us in the past weeks.

Remember how we created watercolor-like backgrounds and stamped shapes on tracing paper? You might want to go back to those tutorials here and here before diving in this one.

I gathered several shapes I had punched out from the tracing paper that had been stamped or double-stamped with images, either with floral or abstract patterns. I love working with round shapes, so that’s what I’m going for today in my handmade (not so) junk journal !

Then I grabbed one of the watercolor-like backgrounds I still had from my previous tutorial and stamped it with that beautiful leafy shape from the Sketchy Leaves stamp set, before fussy cutting it.

For the background, I scribbled some lines with a Stabilo All pencil before applying paint onto the page, first with a brush, then with my fingers.

I glued down one big circle from my stamped tracing papers and placed the cut out on top of it. I then splattered the page with my white Posca pen.

To add more contrast in the lightest area of the page, I added paper strips and a fabric strip where I put dots with a black marker.

Hope this inspired you to make more art with leftovers of what you already created!
