Spring Inspired Art Journal Page with Textured Bird and Sketchy Leaves

Hi there, Susanne here with a spring inspired spread in art journal using gel prints, stencil texture, watercolors and some stamping. I am playing with our Sketchy Leaves 4 stencil and one image of the cute Textured Birds 2. Scroll down for a full video tutorial.

I started the background of this page with some pieces of gel prints that I had in my stash. I adhered the torn pieces with a glue stick and covered the whole spread with a layer of clear gesso. I then stenciled some images of the Sketchy Leaves 4 stencil with black paint. Once this was dry I added a little bit of background stamping with stamps from Mixed Media Marks 1. To bring in some colour and interest I used the Art Graf Tailor Shape crayons. You can use any kind of watercolor to create the same effect. I am explaining this in my video.

I stamped the sentiment with words from the Textured Birds 2 set to mix media paper and added some colour to make them look cohesive on my spread.
