Whimsical Art Journal Page with Inky Mushrooms

Hello, Samantha here today and I’d like to share with you another page for my art journal, just a few more pages and it will be finished! Autumn is my favourite time of year so I just had to use mushrooms…. they’re a bit like rainbows don’t you think?…. they appear, are there for just a short space of time and then disappear without a trace.

I really enjoyed creating this page as I love the images and the colours. I began by creating the background using two of the fabulous new stencils; Leaves 2 and Sketchy Leaves 3. Firstly I used Leaves 2 and applied distress ink, I then stamped some of the Pencil Marks 3 stamps in coordinating colours. To add a little texture I used a palette knife and scraped some texture paste, quite randomly, without a stencil. Then I repeated the process using the Sketchy Leaves 3 stencil. The mushrooms and rainbow were stamped on to white card and coloured using watercolour paints and adhered in place. To finish I added the text using a stamp from each of the Four Seasons and Beautiful Words stamp sets, this is a great way of adding interest using different fonts together. Finally I added some inky black splats.
