Clean and Simple Greeting Card with Stencil Background

Hello, Åshild here! For this post I’ve had so much fun. I grabbed one of the fabulous Rubber Dance stencils – the Big Triangles – and decided to have a play with it. I wanted to make the stenciled triangles look dimentional. Yes, that was my entire plan for this card *haha*. But, you know what? I made it! And I’ll share with you how I did it. Are you ready?

1. Use masking tape to hold the stencil “on place” for the inking.
2. Apply ink in a light color.
3. Them move the stencil a few millimeter to the right – enought to see some un-inked paper.
4. Add more ink, this time with a darker color.
5. When you lift up the stencil, you’ll see that the triangles already look dimentional.
6. If you want more dept/dimention, you can repeat the process, and add a third and darker color.
7. After three moves/layers, you can add some black shadow to the darkes side, just follow the stencil lines.
8. You can use a waterbrush to smoothen the black lines.
9. Remove the stencil – and voila! You’ve made dimentional looking triangels only by using a stencil!
10. Stamp a motif on top of the triangles.
11. Add a text and mount it all together as a card.
12. You’ve made a “flat” card – but it looks dimentional.

This post is my last post as a member of the Rubber Dance Design Team. It’s been so much fun to be a part of the team and I love the designs, both the stamps and the stencils. I hope you all will continue to support and by products from Susanne and I’ll keep an eye on any post on Instagram with the #rubberdance – keep inspiring eachother!

Best wishes from Åshild
