Art Journal Tutorial with Mix it up 7

Hello everyone.
It’s Sixela on the blog today with a step by step art journaling tutorial. To make this page I used the Rubber Dance Mix It Up 7 and Mix A Sentiment stamps with the Dotted 1 stencils.

The pages of my notebook being very thin, I started by applying white gesso with an old loyalty card to waterproof the paper. I then dried it with a Heat gun, insisting in a few places to “bubble” the gesso and give relief.

I created my own papers with pads from plate Mix It Up 7 with either black Versafine ink or Distress ink “weathered wood”.

I tore pieces of these papers and glued them to the bottom of my page.
I applied Winsor and Newton black ink using a collapen (tool made from the metal of a coke can).

I then applied acrylic paint with my finger:
“Light blue Permanent ” (Liquitex) lightened with white, then “turquoise green” (Amsterdam), “lime green” (Liquitex) and white.
Using the Dotted 1 stencil, I applied “Fluorescent Pink” acrylic paint (Liquitex) with a make-up sponge.

I then made stains with “Titanium White” acrylic ink (Liquitex)

Then I made stains by heavily diluting acrylic paint “Prussian Blue Hue” (Liquitex) with water and a Junior Brush, series 303 Da Vinci, size 6.
Then I stamped the facial features of plate Mix It Up 7 on white bristol with black versafine. Then I drew hair using a Murano glass nib (bought from a craftsman during my trip to Venice) and Winsor and Newton black ink. I then tore up this portrait and pasted it on my page.

To finish I stamped the text “Find the beauty in every day” from plate Mix A Sentiment 2023, I glued it on my page and I added a few strokes of a black pen around it.

Here are some close-ups of the page

I wish you a very nice day.
