Vintage Greeting Cards with Gilding Flakes

Hi there, Susanne here with a new video tutorial! Ashild shared an amazing cardmaking tutorial last monday and I was so inspired that I had to use her techniques to create some cards. I am working with our Autumn Leaves stamp set today together with gilding flakes. Scroll down for a video tutorial

I started by preparing and putting together some collage papers to make some paper flowers as focal points for the cards. This idea is also from Ashild! It’s a great way to use your collage paper and make an outstanding embellishment at the same time.
For the card backgrounds I am using Canson Mix Media paper and I am stamping images from our Autumn Leaves stamp set with embossing ink and sticky embossing powder. I am melting the powder with my heat tool and immediately put some gilding flakes on top! You can also use gold leaf instead! I carefully pushed the flakes down with a soft brush. I waited until the embossing powder was cold and removed the over amount of gilding flakes with my brush. That was quite a mess! I cut those backgrounds with a stitched frame die.
I cut circular shapes in different sizes from my collage papers and stacked them up to make some flowers. I glued them together and added some Nuvo glitter drops to the center. Unfortunately my glitter drops are already so dry that they do not make a beautiful dot, but that doesn’t matter for the flower center.
Once the flowers are dry it’s time to put the cards togethere. I decided to go with a kraft card base. I adhered some of my handmade Washi Tape (video tutorial is here) to give the flower something to sit on. I also stamped a sentiment to a separate piece of paper, cut that with a deckled frame die and adhered it with foam dots.
